Fanfiction :: alice nine. :: “Fanfiction”

This is a story which has been around for a while on my LiveJournal account. In 2006, I entered it in AVcon’s fanfic contest as it corresponded with the year’s theme of “Rock and Roll” and won first prize! =D This is the revised version which I submitted to the contest. I hope you enjoy it as much as I had writing it!

Author note: Please note that this took place in 2006 while Yasuno still had bright pink hair and before PSC Indies was opened. =]

It was that time again when all the members of PSC had to come together in a meeting, pick a name out of a hat, and spend a week sharing the same room with that person. At this time, Shou didn’t feel quite comfortable with doing this because of a little scare that Hiroto had caused. The mere thought of the contents in that certain story made him shiver all over, as well as wanting to avoid Ruki and Reita at all costs for an exceptionally long time.

A few days prior to the meeting, Hiroto had decided to show Shou a one-shot fanfiction his overseas friend had found, which consisted of an awkward pairing of Ruki, Reita and Shou. It was written in English, so although he didn’t understand everything that was written, the story made him sick in his stomach and extremely embarrassed, thus the feeling of need to avoid them.

But that wasn’t going to happen.

As Shou walked into the meeting room, he spotted his band immediately and decided to take a seat next to Saga. However, before he could pull the chair out, a familiar voice called out to him.

“Shou-kun~” Ruki called out in a sing-song voice. “Come sit next to us!” He patted the seat between him and Reita, who just merely smiled back at him.

Shou gulped and looked the two strangely – the after effects of the yaoi pairing fanfiction was playing through his mind. He would have done anything to pretend he didn’t hear them, but it was a bit too late for that now.

“Shou-kun, what’s wrong?” Ruki asked, standing up and making his way towards him. I assure you that he had no evil intent in mind, not yet anyway.

“DON’T COME NEAR ME!” Shou screamed and turned around almost immediately to run out the door. Everyone turned around and watched the youngest vocalist of PSC disappear behind the twin doors.

“What was that about?” Ruki asked, caught in surprise and stunned. He thought it was strange for Shou to act in such a manner. Usually the boy revered him for his vocal ability and persisted in asking for guidance with his own. For Shou to run away from him like he was the plague did not sit well with Ruki. After trying to put together the pieces of the puzzle at hand, he ended up confusing himself about why alice nine.’s vocalist acted in such a way.

Reita however, just glanced at Hiroto who started to explain. If there was something wrong with Shou, everyone always asked the bunny-toothed boy. The two are always together, inseparable at times, with others often making the joke that they were ‘joined at the hip.’

Hiroto took a deep breath and looked at the concerned faces around him. “Do you guys remember Aki?” A few nods occurred within the group, with Ruki keeping his puzzled face on. Isshi seemed to be battling whether to run after the boy and console him like a good senpai would, or to stay for the story. Nao pulled him back as the others started to gather around the young guitarist, waiting intently for an explanation.

Hiroto gave a brief explanation about the fanfiction, who it contained and how Shou took quite a shock to it. Instead of everyone understanding the situation, Ruki decided to run out after Shou to bring him back, as he conjured a plan to ease his junior’s pain while the others just laughed. They all had encountered a freaky fangirl before, or a strangely erotic story of them paired with another band member or Japanese rock artist. To them, it wasn’t much of a surprise now, but they all pretty much reacted the same way as Shou did.

“That boy needs to read more of what fans write. That’s nothing compared to some off the other stuff I’ve seen,” Miyavi commented. Everyone turned their heads and looked at him curiously for it seemed that he had a lot of experience in this field.

“Just stick Yasuno in front of him and maybe it’ll scare him back into reality,” Yura joked.

“Oye!” Yasuno yelled out, obviously not pleased with the joke.

“Face it, your pink hair is freaky,” Akiya commented while everyone else choked back their laughter.

The commotion within the meeting room continued, as they waited for the other two vocalists to re-enter the room. Hiroto was getting worried about his buddy and peeked out the door to see what was going on with Shou and Ruki.

“Shou-kuuuun~” Ruki yelled out, jumping up to hug him from behind, deciding to scare the boy a little more. “What’s wrong? Why did you run out of the meeting? Perhaps you hate your senpai now? Don’t you look up to me anymore?” Ruki was a surprisingly good actor, with his large eyes giving off the puppy-dog look as they watered up slightly.

He grabbed Shou by the arm and dragged him back to the meeting room forcefully. “Wouldn’t it be great if we got paired together this time around Shou-kun?” A cheeky smile spread across his face as he plopped Shou in the seat next to him and Reita.

By this time, everyone had returned to their seats and pairings we called out as the director pulled out names from a hat. Two by two, names were announced on who would be sharing rooms in order to create “harmony” within the bands of PSC. Pairs which were drawn from the same band, such as Isshi and Nao, were redone. A few of the pairings consisted of Hiroto and Uruha, Aoi and Tora, and to Shou’s horror, he and Ruki were paired.

“Isn’t that great Shou-kun?” Ruki exclaimed in excitement and reached over to give him a hug. Trying to mask his feelings, Shou looked away as he was feeling more awkward than ever.

That night, everyone went into the designated rooms in which all the basics were provided – all they needed to bring were their clothes. As Ruki happily took up three quarters of the wardrobe space, Shou hid underneath his blanket, wishing he could escape from his current situation.

Why the hell am I here? Out of all the people I could possibly be paired with this time around, it was Ruki-senpai. Why is this bothering me so much? AHHHH!! I shouldn’t even be thinking about these types of things… like what he could do in the middle of the night while I’m asleep. What am I thinking?! Poor Shou was driving his brain into overdrive, as he tried to distract himself, only to make him more focused on the events in the fanfiction he read.

Ruki, knowing exactly what the situation was, decided to take advantage of it to tease the boy more. It wasn’t often he had a chance to do something like this, and it seemed like fun. He was watching Shou curl up in his bed beneath the blankets as he made as much noise as possible as he unpacked for the week. Once everything was done, alice nine’s vocalist was still beneath his covers. So, he decided to spring launch a surprise attack on him.

“Shou-kun!” Ruki called out as he jumped on top of him, pulling down the blanket to reveal the young boy’s face. “Why are you hiding? You shouldn’t hide that pretty face of yours from the world.”

Shou didn’t even move a millimeter, as his senpai was facing him so close that he could feel his warm breath. Alarms went off in his brain, with pretty much only the fanfiction in his mind. Shou looked away and barely whispered his reply. “I just want to sleep Ruki-senpai, I’m tired.”

Ruki retreated slightly, but was still sitting on top of the obviously conscious vocalist. “You haven’t even unpacked yet, and you want to sleep already? It’s only nine o’clock Shou-kun! Let’s go visit the others!”

“No. You can go but I’m going to sleep. I’ll unpack tomorrow.” With that said he pulled the covers over his head once again and waited till he was sure that Ruki had exit the room.

Ruki closed the door and walked towards Reita’s room, with the decision to keep his plans for the evening a secret. Tormenting people was so much fun.

With Gazette’s vocalist out of the room, Shou sprang out of bed and shoved all his belongings into one corner. He was still in his clothes from their dress rehearsal and decided to change into something more comfortable to sleep in. He pulled out a large tank top and a pair of shorts and got changed as quickly as possible, just in case Ruki came back earlier than expected.

Taking his copy of the room keys, he made his way to the washroom with a towel around his neck. He washed his face and got rid of all the makeup, doing a rush job of it, wanting to avoid Ruki at all costs.

Too bad his plan failed.

By the time he reached his room again, he found Ruki undressing and getting ready to sleep as well. Shou’s face went slightly red and he headed towards his own bed and pulled the covers over himself once again.

Shortly after, the lights went off and Ruki settled himself in his own bed, making it quite obvious with the rustling of his sheets.

A few minutes passed by, seeming like years, with nothing but silence in their room. Shou thought that he would surely die by the end of the week, as he couldn’t sleep, keeping his guard up all night long.

Again, there was rustling over Ruki’s side of the room. He sure does toss and turns a lot in his sleep, Shou thought to himself as he tried to focus his mind on something else.

All of a sudden, Shou felt a weight curl around his stomach and the warmth of another body behind him.

“Shou-kun? Are you awake still?” Ruki whispered, hugging him a little tighter.

Shou freaked out, and wasn’t sure to do. He tried to wriggle out of the hold but only caused Ruki to grip on tighter. “Yea I’m awake,” he replied. “No thanks to you though senpai.”

“Ahh, that’s ok then.” I’ll end your torture soon, Ruki thought with a smile on his face. “I just wanted to tell you something. It’s something I’ve kept hidden from you for a while but I never expected that I’d say it to you.”

OH GOD NO PLEASE! Shou thought to himself, closing his eyes tightly, praying that it was only a nightmare. Please don’t let this be what I think it is…

Ruki pulled down the covers from Shou’s face and hovered above him. His face was so angelic in the moonlight, and Ruki gave a small smile. He leaned in closer to Shou’s ear and paused for a moment before speaking.

“Don’t let those silly stories get to you. Just be happy you have so many fans out there who don’t want you to be sex deprived.” With that said he gave him a little peck on the cheek and jumped off the bed.

“Oyasumi, Shou-kun!”
